Home Design, Location and Financing

Home design, location and financing are just a few of the major decisions you will make when building a custom home. At Akin Construction Inc. (ACI) we consult with you to work through these challenging decisions.

Whether you have your own blue prints, lender or lot or need help in choosing any or all of these, we can work with you to get your new home off the ground. We have blue prints on hand and we work with reputable local home designers who will help you design the home you want according to your specifications.
We can build your home on a cost-plus basis or turnkey. Cost plus gives you, the homeowner, more control over your budget. Once the building process begins, you can make changes to either upgrade or downgrade without incurring additional builders fees. Of course, you will pay the additional labor costs and raw material costs but with this type of financing you have the flexibility to make changes.

On a turnkey project, we give you a price of what the finished house will cost. Any changes made once the house is started requires change orders and fees in addition to the raw cost of labor and materials to make the changes. This is for the client that prefers a hands-off approach.

Build It Yourself

Do you want to take on a do-it-yourself project of actually building your own home? You may have the building and management expertise that would lend well to tackling a project of this magnitude but need guidance.

We have worked with clients who do have such experience and expertise they simply need help in areas such as preparing a budget, locating good subcontractors and developing a timeline. Additional needs may include sequencing construction steps and ensuring proper techniques are used according to local building codes.

ACI can provide the resources necessary to help you with your home building project. Whether its creating a simple budget or complete project management, we can work with you. Fees are based on level of service we provide which you decide based on how much or how little assistance you need.
